Algerian Eye Stitch

AKA:  Diamond Eyelet

Uses:  Quilt on a bed, Clothing, Flowers

This is a very hard-wearing stitch, even though the points of the star are long. 

To stitch, first make a hole with an awl, knitting needle or large needle for the middle.  This hole allows the thread to pass through without making a messy pile.  Work the corners first, then the next tow at each point, working until you have reached the middle.

Always work from the outside of the eye towards the middle.
