Binding Stitch

AKA:  Plaited Edge

          Rug Binding

Uses:  Covering edges of plastic or other canvas

Ofter, a piece of needlepoint needs finishing at its edgs.  This is the case with purses, eyeglass cases, key chains, plastic canvas and other items. 

With the wrong side of the canvas toward you, bring the needle, threaded with the correct strands in the needle, up at A.  Go over the canvas and enter at B.  (red line)  Whip the needle away from you and enter at C, then at D.  (blue line)  Do this until you have reached the end of the area you want to bind.  You can bind around a box without stopping the pattern.  With a little practice, you should become quite proficent.
