Diagonal Wheat Stitch

Getting Harder

Uses:  Samplers, Clothes

Place three diagonal stitches on the canvas and before you move onto the next stitch, tie the three with a reversed Continental stitch.  (see upper graph)  Continue to work in a diagonal direction for the next set of stitches.  Although the stitch is showing two colors, the wheat should be in one if you would like it to resemble the picture.

The lower graph has brown stitches inserted into the voids.  These are in the second color.  Work the straight diagonal brown stitches as you would Back stitch.
