Double Cross II Stitch

AKA:  Large Cross Straight Cross

Getting Harder

Uses:  Bodice on dress, Bold backgrounds, Samplers

To create this stitch, I chose light blue for the larger crosses and dark blue for the smaller ones.  When I was finished, to my surprise, I thought that Double Cross II looked like something I might find in a medieval castle - banners on walls or the like.

You will see two graphs.  The upper one shows how to work both stitches.  Take a look at the second graph and you will notice how the two crosses are placed on the canvas.  If you are working with two colors, work the larger crosses first and then insert the smaller upright ones.  For a mono tone combination, work the same but use one color.

For interest, experiment with different colors, threads and fibers.  The possibilities are endless.
