Detached Chain Stitch

To work Detached Chain, bring the thread up to the top of the canvas at point 1.  Hold the thread down with your left hand and bring the needle down at 1 again.  Poke the needle up at 2 and back down at 3.  This finishes the stitch.

Detached Chain can be created in all different directions on the canvas.

To make a larger stitch, spread the length between point 1 and 2.  You can create different variations by using thick or thin threads.
